5x5x5 (or another odd number of LEDs per side) must be the best thing that ever happened to LED cubes since they were invented! Now you can actually light up the exact middle of the cube and make animations that start from the center (explosions) or end in the center (implosions) – awesome! Next step 9x9x9, right? Great job!

Yep. An odd number of LED’s is preferred when doing rotating animations. We’ve actually already made several 11x11x11 cubes in my local Hackerspace http://www.labitat.dk there’s a video of one of them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNpMGw7nJfc
